Types of slip-resistant floors and their applications in different places

Slip resistant floors

Slip resistant floors are an essential requirement for places like malls, sports stadiums, hospitals, and colleges. Incidents of injury resulting from slippery floors are increasing, and most of the cases are to be hospitalized. Victims may claim for compensation for the injury from owners of the property where the slip and fall accident has occurred. Owners of public property need to make slip resistant floors in their establishments.

Slip resistant safety floors

Slip resistant safety floors are of major concern of house owners, as there are high numbers of accidents involving domestic slip and fall. Different types of floors could be converted into slip resistant safety floors by treating them with anti- slip coating materials. Areas like bathrooms, staircases, interior halls, parking areas, and outdoor pool sides could be made non-slippery by using these materials.

Types of Slip Resistant Materials

Non-slip spray paint

Non-slip spray paint is an anti slip flooring material which can be used indoors and outdoors with the same effectiveness. It can also be used on bathroom floors and inside bath tubs. This anti slip material could be used on wooden, concrete, aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass and epoxy floors with consistent results. Non-slip spray paint is a transparent compound made from synthetic material free of any solid particles. Spray paint once applied will be effective for a period of one year after which it is to be reapplied.

Urethane coating

Wooden deck is a common feature in the interior and exterior living spaces. Water based urethane coating is the suitable material to make such floors slip-resistant. This ready to use chemical needs a drying time of about six hours after application. This material also protects the floors from abrasions and damages caused by water.

Acrylic coating

Slip resistant flooring is best achieved by applying an acrylic coating. This acrylic compound which is water based is suitable for use on different types of surfaces. This acrylic coating is applied like paint and takes about three hours to dry.

Anti-slip compound

Another well known non-slip material which is used extensively is bathtub anti-slip compound. This material is specially produced for application on surfaces of marble, terrazzo, ceramic, porcelain, cement, and granite.

Anti-slip floors are an important requirement for public places like shopping mall or multiplex, where the slips and falls can occur. You have to take the help of a professional service provider for the application of anti-slip coating materials.
